China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on Monday gave an estimate of between 8000-9000 tons of gold in reserve by 2015 (read more here). This is a huge increase and would make China the largest holder in the world and change the balance of financial power from west to east once and for all. The latest statements are in line with comments made in 2009 by State Council advisor Ji “we suggested that China’s gold reserves should reach 6,000 tons in the next 3-5 years and perhaps 10,000 tons in 8-10 years”.

Happy stacking.
